Great article, very interesting to read about the origins of this myth.

For anyone interested in the Prester John legend, I highly recommend "Baudolino" by Umberto Eco. It's a fantastical tale but one that captures the mood that Prateek describes - Prester John is a symbol of faith and hope for the subjects of the troubled Holy Roman Empire.
